Product Testers Wanted!

I just created two bronzers, a veil, and an all over face color (or glow), and I need some product testers to give me some feedback!

Natural Mineral Bronzer - Fair Maiden - for fair skin

Bronzer - Fair Maiden

.

Fair Maiden Bronzer is for fair and porcelain skin. It has peachy tones in it so that it doesn’t make fair skin look dirty like a regular bronzer would – it just gives you a natural, sun-kissed glow.

Sun Goddess Bronzer is for all skin colors except fair and porcelain. This shade will add a sheer bronze glow to your skin.

.

I also made a veil that adds a sheer luminosity to your skin. It goes on almost clear, so it’s great for all skin shades, and it gives you that fresh, dewy look.

.

Fresh Glow

Glow - Fresh

And last but not least, I made an all over face color, or “Glow”, in shade Fresh – a light peachy pink that suits all skin tones. This is a multi-purpose product that you can apply as a sheer layer all over your skin, apply a heavier layer to your eyelids, or even apply to your lips with a bit of lip balm for some fresh, natural color!

.

.

So before I put these new products on my website, I want to get some feedback from you! If you order anything (no minimum) within the next week (until Friday, May 21st), just request in the comments section of the shopping cart which of the four new products you want to try (or all four!) and I’ll include free sample sizes with your order. Once you receive them, just try them out and let me know what you think :)

And check out the new sheer lipstick I made today: Truth or Dare, a hot pink perfect for summer! This shade is going to be a limited edition, available until September. Thanks, Inge, for suggesting this shade!

My First Farmers’ Market!

Today, I set up shop at the Vernon Farmers’ Market for the first time! I don’t have a car (nor do I want one), so I rigged up a dolly with a bunch of bungee cords and walked!

Walking to the Vernon Farmers' Market with my dolly!

It only took about 20 minutes and most of the route had sidewalks (rare in Vernon). Once I got everything securely fastened, it actually worked quite well! It held my folding table and chair plus my displays, tablecloth and all of my stock.

Duct tape fixes everything!

And a little bit of duct tape never hurts when things are falling apart!

It was great “parking” my dolly alongside all of the large vans and trucks!

My table looked pretty sparse after I got it set up, but I’ll slowly add to it through the season and give it some more style and flair.

It was pretty slow in terms of general market traffic, but it’s still early in the season, and everyone told me that the Thursday markets are much busier, so I think I’ll give it another try next Thursday!

New Product: Sheer Organic Lipstick

By customer request, I’m developing a line of sheer organic lipsticks. They’re half as pigmented as my regular lipsticks, so they’re great for a more natural look – plus they’re more moisturizing since they’re part lip balm, part lipstick!

Sheer Organic Lipstick - Allure

Mudgee Brown - Sheer Lipstick

So far I’ve made Allure, my best-selling shade in the full strength lipsticks, and Mudgee Brown, a new pinkish brown.

I plan on making a few more shades for the collection, but I thought it might be fun to take color requests and I’ll choose the most popular one to work on next! Just leave a comment on this post to request a shade. You can either choose from my existing full-pigment lipstick colors or suggest a completely new color – it’s up to you!

I also just made a few lipstick palettes (full strength) with Mulberry, Allure, Tickled Pink, Sugar ‘n’ Spice, and Nearly Nude. I only made a few, and I don’t think I’ll be making any more, so if you want one, grab it before it’s gone!

Smoky Eye Tutorial

Smoky Eye Tutorial

For my first tutorial, I decided to do a smoky eye since it’s a classic trend and a look that a lot of people have trouble creating. This look can be tricky, but with a bit of practice and lots of blending, you’ll have sultry, smoky eyes in no time! Just make sure you’re not going out the first time you try it!

(Note: the pictures didn’t quite capture the intensity, so it looks like a much softer smoky eye than I intended – the black eye liner looks gray…if anyone has photo tips, please share :) )

This look is designed for smaller eyes, although it will work for those of you lucky enough to to have big, wide eyes. The trick  to opening up your eyes is to concentrate the color on the outer corner of your eyes near the lash line and keep the inner corner light with a highlight shadow.

So let’s get started! I’m going to be using the following eye shadows/liners: Silk, Mystique, Sultry, and Little Black Dress.

Natural Mineral Smoky Eye Kit

Prep: Apply a drop of natural primer to your lids and below your lower lash line. Blend with your finger as it dries. This will allow you to build more intensity with the shadows and help them last longer.

Smoky Eye Tutorial - Step 1

.

Step 1: With the Eye Shadow Brush, apply Mystique eye shadow on your lid up to the middle of your brow bone, and 3/4 of the way to your inner corner. Using the larger end of the Double-End Smudger Brush, apply Mystique below your lower lash line. Blend outer edges.

Step 2: With the  Eye Shadow Brush, apply Sultry eye shadow to your crease, blending into Mystique. Then use the smaller end of the Double-End Smudger Brush to apply Sultry to your upper and lower lash line, blending.

Tip: Try to concentrate the pigment towards the outer corner and taper it towards the inner corner.

Smoky Eye Tutorial - Step 3.

Step 3: With the Eye Shadow Brush, apply Silk eye shadow to your brow bone and the inner third of your eyelid, blending into Mystique. Use the larger end of the Double-End Smudger to apply Silk to your inner corner, blending outwards.

(Don’t forget to wipe off the brushes first since you’re switching to a lighter color.)

Step 4: Using the smaller end of the Double-End Smudger, apply Little Black Dress eye liner to your upper and lower lash line, concentrating the pigment towards the outer corner and smudging.

Step 5: Using the Precision Liner, foil Little Black Dress along your upper lash line for added intensity.

Cheeky Cosmetics gets a makeover!

I have finally finished redesigning my website! What do you think? It has a new shopping cart that accepts coupons and gift certificates, so it’s much more functional. Plus, I think the design has a more sophisticated, old-fashioned yet modern “boutique” style to it now. Well, that’s what I was going for anyway! I think I’ve had enough of coding for the time being – I can’t wait to start creating new makeup colors again!

After finishing the website “makeover”, I decided that now would be a good time to start a blog. It’s going to have looks, tutorials, new products, a behind-the-scenes look at how I create makeup, plus contests and other fun stuff! I hope to post once a week, but I’m new to blogging, so we’ll see how that goes… If you have any ideas for topics, I’d love to hear them!
